We generally build our lapstrake boats to order, so you can have yours finished and detailed just the way you like. We can alter deck layouts and coamings, paint or stain, strip-build or custom-veneer decks, add deck hatches and fancy seatbacks, and add our famous curved-stem carrying handles -- whatever you desire!

Two variations of deck layout on our lapstrake canoes. On the left is a Georgian Bay 16 with round coamings, white painted hull, and an elegant custom deck, at right a modified open Oughtred 16 with "decklets".

We also build a variety of other canoes to order, including our budget-priced Little Pete and Peterboat hard-chined plywood sailing canoes. We recently completed a prototype vinylester-foamcore Marathon racing canoe, and are considering production of several other small craft types. If you haven't seen the boat you are looking for here, please contact us! We may already have plans or a prototype of the boat you are looking for, and we also custom build -- an option that can be surprisingly affordable.

We're always pleased to discuss building projects and can accomodate custom boats and replicas up to about 30 feet long inside our main shop. We can access a large collection of plans, or build to plans you have found. Talk to us about your dream.

Lost in the Woods Boatworks is looking at production of several other small craft types. The 14ft Muskoka Rowing Skiff is one possibility. A design originating in the 1920's, it is both seaworthy and a delight to row. These craft can also be fitted with a sailing rig or a small outboard motor thwart.
