July 2002: Well, it's been an interesting Spring, with only two new boats under construction but a veritable flood of repairs and restorations including an Ackroyd Dinghy, two Peterborough Skiffs, several assorted wooden boats and canoes, and a flock of Tanzer rudders. We finally built and tested a side-mount rudder based on our rigging deck principle. Two versions exist: a push-pull tiller and a universal tiller. Both consist of a 32 inch deep kick-up rudder made of 1/2 inch marine ply crossbraced as far back as you can reach to the gunwales. The Mk2, with tiller extension, rides slightly closer to the hull, while the push-pull is in line with the leeboard. Both may be refined but we don't envision a Mk3. Instead, it is my intention to apply all this stored-up knowledge into developing a new sail canoe hull for our product line. This should begin as soon as we can clear up some shop space.

Also, in response to ongoing demand we will be building a prototype Rowboat in the fall and winter. Based on my 14 ft Peterborough double-ender with a 42 inch beam, this is also known as a Muskoka Skiff. I think there's a picture here somewhere...

We currently have Cruiser sails, Lugs, and V30's in stock. Delivery of the V40 (formerly CCSA 44) has been slow, but we hope to have some soon.

March 10, 2002: Well, we finally updated our website! Just been too busy for too long. Currently in development is our new clamp-on rudder to compliment our famous clamp-on Rigging Deck. As soon as the ice is out we'll try it out!
